Implant Systems from Oakton Dentistry by Design

February 20, 2012

If you need to replace one or more missing teeth with a crown, bridge, or denture, you may want to find out if you’re a candidate for dental implants first. Dental implants, when combined with those traditional options, can restore both a smile’s appearance and functionality, resulting in a strong, natural bite.

What is it that makes dental implants work so well?

The key is in the way they interact with the jaw. Implants are made from titanium, a biocompatible material that bonds with the jaw over time, creating a rock-solid foundation for restorations, whether it’s a crown, bridge, or denture.

And because patients have different needs, Drs. Khalil and Giordano utilize implant systems from a variety of companies, including

Smile Reminder System Makes It Easier to Stay In Touch with Patients

In the past, dentists have used a simple phone call to remind patients about upcoming appointments. But none of us are as tied to our home phone as we used to be, thanks to the rise of smartphones like the iPhone, the Android, and BlackBerry. These days, we’re all just as likely to send a text message or email to someone as call them.

That’s why Oakton Dentistry by Design uses Smile Reminder. With Smile Reminder, our Oakton dental office can send patients helpful, unobtrusive appointment reminders via text and email, in addition to calling.

Likewise, Drs. Khalil and Giordano can use Smile Reminder to send out friendly birthday wishes or inform patients about all the latest news related to Oakton Dentistry by Design.

And what’s more, patients can utilize this helpful service as well. Let’s say that something comes up at the last minute and you can’t make your appointment. Smile Reminder makes it easy for you to get in touch with us. Or, if you have someone you’d like to refer to us through our Care to Share Program, which you can read about here, Smile Reminder helps you do just that.

To learn more about Smile Reminder and all of its benefits for us and for you, visit their website, where you’ll even find a free demo you can try out.

And if you’d like to schedule an appointment with Dr. Khalil or Dr. Giordano, just give our Oakton dental office a call. We serve patients from Oakton, Vienna, McLean, Fairfax, and Burke.

Let Sleep Dentistry Help You Take Your Smile to New Heights

November 15, 2011

If you’ve ever scrolled through our services page, you’ve probably noticed that Oakton Dentistry by Design offers sedation dentistry.

Sedation dentistry allows patients who have avoided the dentist because of dental anxiety or other issues—like neck or back pain, a sensitive gag reflex, or because local anesthetics don’t have an effect on them—the chance to get the care they need without fear or stress.

What you may not know about us, though, is that we also offer sleep dentistry.

More Safety for Patients and Better Quality Images with Dexis Digital Imaging

October 21, 2011

In the past, taking x-rays with a traditional x-ray machine meant using multiple sensors to capture all the images a dentist might need to look closely at a patient’s smile. It also meant using harsh chemicals to expose those images, not to mention having the extra physical space to keep them for future reference or for referrals.

Taking x-rays with Dexis Digital Imaging, on the other hand, is a completely different experience. With Dexis, there’s no need for harsh chemicals, extra storage space, and it’s safer for patients, too.

How Do X-Rays with Dexis Work?

With Dexis Digital Imaging, Dr. Khalil and Dr. Giordano of Oakton Dentistry by Design can easily take detailed images of a patient’s smile with just one sensor, exposing him or her to 90% less radiation in the process. And, instead of having to develop those images with harsh chemicals, we can just bring them up chairside, on a screen that you and Dr. Khalil or Dr. Giordano can look at together.

This doesn’t just make it easier for patients to see their X-rays, though—it makes it easier to explain what kind of care might be needed. That means more time can be spent helping patients understand their options, with less waiting time in our office. And for us, it means never needing harsh chemicals or extra storage space.

Want to know more about Dexis Digital Imaging? Drs. Khalil and Giordano would be happy to explain how Dexis is making x-rays easier the next time you come in for your next checkup.

Call us today to schedule your next appointment with Oakton Dentistry by Design. We serve patients from Oakton, Vienna, McLean, Fairfax, and Burke.

Invisalign Lets You Straighten Your Smile without Losing Your Professional Image

September 15, 2011

A straighter smile comes with more than one benefit. In addition to boosting your self-confidence, you can look forward to cleaner, healthier teeth and possibly even relief from headaches, jaw pain, and teeth grinding, which often can be caused by a misaligned bite.

But, you might be wondering, how can you have that straighter smile you’ve been dreaming of without losing your professional image?

With Invisalign clear braces!

How Does Invisalign Work?

Instead of using brackets and wires, like traditional braces, Invisalign uses a series of clear acrylic aligners. These aligners are custom made by Invisalign to match your teeth and follow the realignment plan created for you by Dr. Khalil or Dr. Giordano. You’ll simply need to wear each set of aligners for about two weeks before moving on to the next set.

To find out more about Invisalign clear braces and how you can have a straighter, healthier, and more attractive smile, contact our Oakton office today. Dr. Khalil and Dr. Giordano will be happy to talk with patients from Oakton, Vienna, McLean, Fairfax, and Burke, and answer any questions you might have.
